SOMETHING DIFFERENT was a three-day practical workshop offering by sound and Citymoves in Aberdeen, focused on collaborative creative practice. Led by sound artist/composer Bill Thompson and dancer/choreographer Penny Chivas, the workshop was oriented toward dancers/choreographers and composers/sound artists/improvisers.
Jo was selected to take part in this fantastic development opportunity alongside two other dancers and five musicians/sound artists.
Over the three days, participants explored creative ways of working, collaborating and performing in ad hoc groups and contexts. Each day dancers and musicians/sound artists worked together with Bill and Penny's support, responding in real time to creative prompts, practicing group improvisations and creating short 5-minute pieces of collaborative material in duets and small groups.
This project was supported by Creative Scotland, PRSF Talent Development Network supported by PPL, Aberdeen City Council, Hinrichsen Foundation, Hugh Fraser Foundation, Idlewild Trust, Pear Tree for Music Fund and Vaughan Williams Foundation.
